How You Can Help

Ways to Volunteer

Bread & Roses depends on its family of volunteers to provide the evening meal to as many as 200 guests that visit each of the five evenings we are open.

Individuals are welcome to join our family of volunteers. Individual volunteers must be 18 years or older. A brief orientation is offered for our volunteers before signing up for a one-time or a regular volunteer schedule. Approximately 15 0 volunteers are committed to staffing Bread & Roses and perform these and various other tasks:

  • Serving the evening meal
  • Helping with daytime meal prep
  • Creating and facilitating mailings
  • Cleaning and organizing the facility
  • Helping with yard work or the Community Garden

Volunteer Groups

Approximately 25 church and nonprofit groups cater meals for Bread & Roses on a regular basis. It is one of the joys of life at Bread & Roses to see a variety of people with different beliefs and from different walks of life working together for a common goal.

Youth Volunteers

High School students are welcome to volunteer during the evening meal accompanied by with teachers or parents.

Younger students can contribute as well. Here are some of the ways that local schools and scouts can contribute:

  • Donating baked goods
  • Organizing food drives
  • Participating in "cleaning days"
  • Creating special cards, place mats, or table favors for our guests.
